Introducing the Corporate Knowledge chat, a space for subscribers to converse and connect
If you're interested in more personalized Spurs discussions, away from the noise of social media, then boy do I have the place for you...
I’m not sure there’s another platform on planet Earth that complements the live game-watching experience the way Twitter does — both in great and terrible ways.
The constant stimulation has become a drug to which many of us are addicted, and if you’re not a member of the Twitter-junky cult, then you can ignore these couple of paragraphs, and congratulations on being a healthy human being. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to achieve such comforts and peace in life again. Actually, considering the current state of that website, that day may exist in the not-too-distant future. Who knows? Who cares? This isn’t an advertisement for the Bird App.
But it is an invitation for subscribers to join me in regular chats here at Corporate Knowledge in the Substack app. Whether it’s during games, after practices, or randomly during the day, this can be a place to talk about the Spurs, basketball, or any other relevant topic really.
It will be like a group chat or live hangout only for subscribers. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the conversation. To all paid subscribers, there will be chats exclusive to y’all at various times throughout the week, but there will be occasional discussions available to free subscribers as well!
I realize many of us like the pace of social media and the many voices it brings to the table, but I also know there are plenty of people who enjoy a more personable conversation. Less noise, fewer trolls, just hangin’ out. If you’re one of those people, you know where to find me!
Here’s the thing: To join the chat, you’ll need to download the free Substack app (messages are sent via the app, not email). I know only a very small percentage of people who read this publication do so through the app, and one of the great things about Substack is the very digestible email format. But, beyond the new chat function, I highly recommend the app. It makes it very easy to read all posts from every newsletter to which you subscribe, and it notifies you whenever new posts arrive in your inbox (so long as notifications are turned on, obviously).
The subscriber list here is growing pretty quickly, and I think it’d be great to build more of a community. I know it would be cool for me to get to know people who have taken the time and made the effort to subscribe to Corporate Knowledge.
So if this interests you, follow the steps below!
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
I’m going to start an intro chat soon, and if you’re subscribed and have the Substack app you will get an alert. So pull up!
Another programming note: Over the last three weeks or so, my family and I have been dealing with several heavy issues in our personal lives. Time has been tight, and frankly so has mental bandwidth, so volume has been a tick lower than it had been previously. I wanted to apologize for that.
BUT! Life goes on, and we’re starting to climb out the other side things. The plan moving forward is for a newsletter to hit your inboxes Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. It’s the NBA, so obviously that schedule is subject to change based on whatever events unfold throughout the course of the week — especially as we close in on the February trade deadline — but that is going to be a template.
The focus of this beat is on the big picture of things, not necessarily the game-by-game. I’m sure you’ve noticed this by now. There will be plenty to talk about on a nightly basis, but at this juncture I think most have come to grips with the fact the results of each matchup are not the priority this season, both for the team and in here.
My hope is, between this new chat and the normal flow of articles, we can keep the conversation going without getting bogged down in the many, many losses. Because there really is a lot to talk about with the future of this team in mind.
I appreciate you all, and I look forward to the continued development of this newsletter and community. More good news coming in the near future, by the way. So stay tuned!
Corporate Knowledge is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, please consider becoming a free or paid subscriber! There’s a special offer running through Jan. 2 for 30 percent off both monthly and annual subscriptions for the next 12 months. A big “THANK YOU” to all of those who have already subscribed or are considering doing so — you’re helping build this thing, and for that I’m extremely grateful.
